Tuesday Tip: Kiwi Kiss Restaurant (Review)

On Saturday night, BF and some friends went out to a restaurant that is tucked very much in the centre of the industrilized area of Great South Road (Greenlane end) that we found on Grabone.

First of all, my expectations were not very high, was thinking and comparing it my experience when I went to The Sugar Club (which I should re-post on here….) for my friend’s birthday late last year.  If you are familiar with The Sugar Club and/or from New Zealand you’ll know that it’s one of Peter Gordan’s restaurants so obviously you would have high hopes & expectations. To keep it brief, unfortunately I was disappointed. Don’t get me wrong, it was still pretty good but… the serving sizes were way too small! (Even for a tiny person like me!!)

So, anyways. Onto the actual point of this post. Didn’t have too high of expectations for this place. Though, from the

IMG_4944 IMG_4946COURSE #1 // Shredded Chicken Salad: This was good. I think even my favourite bit of the meal…..!

COURSE #2 // Palate Cleanser ~ lemon sorbet: So, this was obviously smaller than I thought, thought it would be something else much more sustainable and filling.

COURSE #3 // I forgot what this was called but there was a potato fritter with… some nut and herbs in it, which was my favourite part and a filo roll filled with… pretty much the entree salad carrot and such.. but still pretty good but the sauce from the chicken made it soggy 😦 The main chicken thing was probably my least favourite part of the dinner.

COURSE #4 // DESSEEEERT! Creme Bruleeee! This was pretty good but the portion size was pretty large. Than usual. Usually you’d get a smaller portion size. This was pretty big. Which is good! :]

Overall, this was a nice and enjoyable dinner. Nice conversations and company! ^^ It wasn’t as filling as say, going to Renkon but it was pretty filling. Maybe not for BF but for me, pretty good. The deal was $48 for a four-course meal that is usually worth $128. So, if I didn’t have the voucher, I probably wouldn’t go but because there was the deal, we went (obviously!). $128 is not worth the dinner, in my opinion. But I guess it’s free-range chicken so makes it a little bit pricey..

Friday Favourites: Candle, Cream and Cashmere (I wish…. about the cashmere)

Welcome to the second edition of Friday Favourites! This week I showcase four of my favourite things from the week that has gone (and also one from the week before….)

IMG_4868Art Deco Nail Polish in 152 and 84,  $18.99 ea from Farmers.
Was looking at getting some new nail polish in a shade that I don’t own (I own far too many pinks and reds! Some even pretty shockingly similar! o_O) and decided I really liked the OPI No Room For the Blues. Was taking a look-see at all the major affordable brands like Revlon, Chi Chi etc and they either didn’t have it or was a bit more than I wanted to spend… saw Art Deco and lo and behold, they were having a buy one, get the second half price! SOLD!! And here we are. Coming on Monday, I’ll be wearing and posting one of the shades. Really like the colours! More to come Monday!~ 😉

Kate’s Homewares Orange Burst 87mm Glass Candle, $3.99 from Pak N Save.
Suuuuch a bargain and smells sooo subtely good! It’s got about 1/3 of the candle left or maybe just under half as the candle wasn’t completely full. I really do like this one. And soo cheap too! Though it doesn’t quite last as long as my first candle that I got from Stevens (that lasted about a week with approx 6 hours burning each day) but that’s pretty reasonable for the amount you pay! Would really highly recommend this. They come in other scents too, which I may try just so can have pretty candle photos~

Blueberry Cotton Knit, $10and Glassons Coral Fluffy Knit, $29.99
Tis the cold wintry weather that requires knits and sweaters! Layering up is the way to go in this weather… picked up two (and thinking of more especially the $10 one in another one or two colours!) sweaters. As you can see, they are so very versatile! Expect to see an upcoming post on ways to style a sweater (from my closet) soon!

Egoderm Cream, $8.99, Countdown (Pharmacy)
For the past week I have been itching like there’s no tomorrow and it was just unbearable. So, I went down to the pharmacy to see what’s available. I was originally going to get an Aloe Vera gel but then saw some actual anti-itch cream and well, bought the cheapest one. This other one was about $20 but that’s cos it’s a natural formula. If I had more income, would have possibly gone for that. This stuff is good. I apply it in the morning and for the next 4~5 hours I’m not itching… there is still some itching but not as hard core. Oh, there is a semi-strong medical smell upon application but does go away after applying it. I would definitely recommend this. 🙂

Friday Favourites: Lego block building!

IMG_4805   IMG_4804

Went along to the Henderson Night Markets and came across these cute Lego building block… figurines. They’re pretty cute. Pretty much got the cutest ones – a dog (that looks like Pluto ~ Mickey Mouse’s dog) and Yoshi!

Yoshi is a tad bigger I think with 130 blocks and the dog only had 60. Took me an hour to build the dog, so probably maybe hour and half for Yoshi? Probably will save that for another day.

Both together were only $27… probably not particularly worth $20 if it was for Yoshi but something novelty once in a while 🙂 Below are photo spam of the dog in all angles possible! That I could think of. (something else useless to add to my collectible collection~)

Oh, and the Henderson Night Markets were a bit underwhelming, not as big as the Pakuranga or Glenfield ones…. but a good decent choice of food available. Henderson Night Markets are on every Friday (today was the first, I believe and it was just by chance that my friend and I were around that area and noticed it!) from 5.30 ~ midnight.

Sorry for the delay in posting this week! I do usually post on Tuesdays but things happen and just couldn’t. Hope you enjoyed the post! ^~^
